YOUR MESSAGE, THEIR ATTENTION: STRATEGIES TO ENSURE RECRUITERS HIT “REPLY”
Are you DMing recruiters here and not getting replies?
Are they ignoring you? Maybe just busy?
Here’s a hack to getting a 100% hit rate:
Email them!
Recruiters LIVE in their inbox.
Every day. All Day.
I know this because I’ve been there.
It’s where all the magic happens:
- Scheduling interviews
- Chatting with candidates
- Working with hiring managers
- Making offers
So you can bet that any email that comes in
Recruiters will see it (assuming you get the right email).
“But WIZARD, I don’t have their email or know how to get it…”
Let me show you exactly how to do that.
Here’s how to find anyone’s email on LinkedIn:
1. Open up Google Chrome.
2. Go to the Chrome Web Store.
3. Search for ‘Adapt — Find Emails On Websites’.
4. Download the extension.
5. Sign-in to the extension.
6. On any LinkedIn profile, activate the extension.
7. Voila! It spits back an email for that person!
Once you have their email, don’t let it go to waste.
But as with approaching hiring managers or any decision makers, I would put a word of caution before pushing aggressively on email.
1. Finding verified emails is super imp. With high email bounce rates, there is a high probability of your email deliverability going down and you ll end up landing in spam.
2. Including an attachment or a link in your first outreach email also affects sender reputation i.e. Emails not landing in inbox
Here’s how to write an effective email to a recruiter:
1️⃣ An eye-catching subject line
→ Recruiters get tons of emails
→ So you need to make sure yours stands out
→ Try something simple like ‘{Recruiter’s first name} // Follow-up’
2️⃣ Email body that adds value
→ Don’t say the same thing everyone else would say.
→ Use email body to show what you bring to the table.
→ And express your excitement about the role, confidence in your abilities, and gratitude for their consideration.
3️⃣ Attach your resume and supporting documents
→ You will have to apply online of course
→ But attach your resume for easy reference
→ Along with the job description in question
→ Add any other supporting documents
4️⃣ Follow up, follow up, follow up
→ The fortune is in the follow-up
→ Just because you didn’t hear back =/= rejected
→ Follow up every few days later a couple of times
Email is a powerful tool.
It’s what helps businesses grow.
It’s what helps sales professionals make bank.
And it can help you land your next role.
