Stop sweating the small stuff on your resume.
As a hiring manager, I don’t care about:
1. Fancy Design & Formatting: Substance over style. A clear, well-structured resume is key.
2. Perfect Grammar: Proofread, but small typos aren’t deal-breakers.
3. ‘Objective’ Statements: Use that space for a brief professional summary instead.
4. Length: 1 page vs. 2 pages? Doesn’t matter as long as it’s clear, concise.
What grabs my attention?
1. Relevance: Can I easily see how your experience and skills relate to the job?
2. Achievements > Responsibilities: Show me what you’ve done, not just what your job required.
3. Quantifiable Results: Show me the numbers! Did you boost sales by 30%? Tell me.
4. Growth & Learning: I like to see progression, problem-solving, new skills learned, and professional development.
Your resume is the story of your professional life, and what matters most is how that story aligns with the role you’re applying for.
Make sure your resume tells me why you’re worth talking to,
And I promise I’ll be listening.
